We currently have a vacancy for a full time archives cataloguer working within the Archives Service.
The Bedford College Nursing Papers form part of the Bedford College Archive and track the development of nursing teaching at the College between 1896 and the 1980s. Bedford College was a pioneer in women’s education and this project will open up a rich resource for the medical humanities community and wider public.
Your role will involve the listing, cataloguing to ISAD(G) standard and managing digitised copies of the collection, ensuring access for use by researchers. Working with the Archivist and colleagues in the Library service, you will also seek to promote the collection through appropriate channels.
You will be a qualified archivist with experience of cataloguing archival material. You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to demonstrate your ability to work both independently and as a team member. Accuracy and a methodical approach are essential, along with flexibility, good ICT skills and a genuine interest in promoting and exploiting archive collections. Previous experience of using CALM is desirable.
This post is for 35 hours a week. These hours will be worked 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday. The post is fixed term for 6 months. The post is funded as part of a Wellcome Trust Research Resources Award. This post is based in Egham, Surrey, where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
