Applications are invited for the post of Professor of Medieval European History in the Department of History.
Candidates will have research and teaching expertise within this field in the period between c.1000-1400; preference may be shown to those with an interest in British History. They will be able to demonstrate an extensive record of publications and successful grant applications. Candidates will be expected to offer clear plans for future research activities and to contribute strongly to research leadership within the Department. They will have experience of and be required to teach across broad medieval courses, as well as developing their own specialised courses at undergraduate and MA levels.
The Professor of Medieval European History will be expected to show the highest academic standing, to make a broad and sustained contribution to their field and discipline nationally and internationally, and to demonstrate sustained and exceptional performance in research. The post holder will engage in high-quality research activity, leading major research projects; to secure consistently research funding and/or third-stream income at levels appropriate to their discipline; and to play a key role in the development and implementation of the departmental, Faculty and College research strategy. They will also provide academic leadership in the design and delivery of high quality, appropriate and innovative teaching programmes. In addition, the post holder will play a key role in supporting the leadership and management activities of the department and College. The candidate should also be willing to play a significant role in Impact and external engagement, including contact with schools and Colleges.
This is a full time and permanent post, available from 1 January 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter. This post is based in Egham, Surrey, where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from central London. The National Archives at Kew are also within close reach.
