Category: Academic | Department: Department of Global Health and Development | Closing Date: 09 Dec 2015 | The Health Economics and Systems Analysis (HESA) group at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer/Lecturer to work on economic evaluation (cost, cost effectiveness and cost benefit analysis) of health interventions in low and middle income (LMIC) settings. The successful applicant will join the world’s premier group of health economists working on low- and middle income countries, and benefit from close links with leading researchers in mathematical modelling, statistical methods, and epidemiology of infectious and chronic disease.  A Research fellow will be appointed in due course to support work in this area.
The Senior Lecturer/Lecturer will be responsible for leading/coordinating methodological and applied research projects across the group, as well as developing activities to raise the profile of HESA’s economic evaluation work and publishing and disseminating research findings in high impact journals.  They will manage and support junior staff and students, co-ordinate and link with others doing economic evaluation within LSHTM, play an active role in cross-faculty centres, and undertake activities to strengthen networks with external collaborators.   In addition, the candidate will also be expected to undertake an academic management role at an appropriate level of the School.  As Senior Lecturer you would also be expected to serve as health economics expert on technical and other advisory committees for international and national policy bodies.
The successful candidate appointed to Senior Lecturer/Lecturer level will be expected to have a PhD in health economics or related discipline. Strong technical skills in economic evaluation (including cost and cost effectiveness analysis). Successful candidates will demonstrate their ability to secure research funding, a strong track record of publishing in peer reviewed journals, and strong networking and communication skills.  Successful experience of line managing and mentoring junior staff is desirable if appointed at Senior Lecturer level.  In addition, the post holder must be willing to travel to low and middle income countries for approximately 20% of time per year.

We are ideally seeking a candidate to work full-time but applications for part-time work will be considered, and the post will be for 3 years in the first instance. The post is based in London and will include international travel.  Salary will be in the range of £52,895 - £60,712 per annum for the Senior Lecturer. If appointed to Lecturer level the salary range is £43,745 - £50,078, inclusive of London Weighting.  Appointments will be according to qualifications and experience and will be subject to LSHTM terms and conditions.
