As an Axelerant DevOps Architect, you will need to take responsibility for leading a team of engineers to design and deliver complete solutions that meets user needs and quality standards. Next, you would be expected to create tools to support the software engineers in implementing new features, testing and deploying all the way to production.

Furthermore, define & lead the overall toolsets/process used by software engineers across the SDLC - source code management, branching strategies, development tools, static code analysis tools etc. with the goal of continuous improvement in agility, quality & process/tooling maturity.

Lead the technical decision making on configuration management, version control, build / deployment management & site reliability engineering. Coach and develop the analytical and technical skills of engineers on the DevOps team.

You’re expected to have a holistic view of Axelerant’s technical environments and help forward the organizational infrastructure as a competitive technological advantage. You know, cool usable tech that others dream of…

Beyond designing and deployment of new applications; enhancements to existing applications, and operating systems, you’re required to contribute to internal and external product engineering. You’ll design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.

Moreover, you are required to have a natural problem solving ability, sharp reasoning and a logical bent. To have a good grasp on programming fundamentals and can whip up a script/program in bash/perl/ruby/python as required. You know your regex & can wade through different log files to identify & fix issues.

Good DNS & networking skills with the ability to troubleshoot networking issues with traceroute/ping/mtr/lft/tcpdump/wireshark etc. We are looking of those who are are passionate about technology, innately curious, and take time out to keep up with system administration trends and practices. Also, those who can deliver reliable scripts/systems, documentation, monitoring tools & automate processes at a rapid pace.

Requirements

Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools.

Strong knowledge of Unix and Unix Internals, Unix admin processes and best practices.

In-depth understanding of LINUX - Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu.

Ability to develop automation scripts using PHP, PERL, Python, Ruby on Rails, Shell Scripts or Devops specific products such as Chef, Puppet etc.

In-depth understanding with virtualization software (KVM, Xen, etc)

Experience with the cutting edge container technologies like LXC, Docker etc.

Ability to architect setups for hosting complex environments

Ability to scale applications seamlessly

Strong understanding of Agile development model.

Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels.

Monitor the stability of our products with various internal tools.

Handle incident response, troubleshooting and fix for various product/services.

Get different internal/external groups together to resolve production site issues effectively.

Communicate clearly on tickets, phone calls made to the team about various issues.

Exhibit a sense of urgency to resolve issues.

Ensure SLA's and Operational standards are met.

Raise tickets to different internal groups to resolve recurrent problems,alerts and follow-up on escalated issues.

Liaison with engineering teams for RCA's, permanent resolutions on issues affecting production sites.

Contribute to Operations handbook.

Ensure smooth hand-offs between shifts.

Experience in leading product engineering teams

Advanced understanding of web hosting

Advanced user of Linux command line

Strong experience in any of the Gnu/Linux environment

Experience in any of the Virtualization Stacks

Application Stacks: LAMP, Nginx/HAproxy/AT

Can use any of the Configuration Management Tools

Tools/Utilities: Nagios, Cacti, Emacs/Vim

Use GIT like a master

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree in related field, or equivalent experience.

Prior success architecting & implementing a DevOps continuous delivery model.

Deep knowledge, hands on experience and passion for making a profound difference in the DevOps space for Axelerant.

Good Understanding of ITIL Processes, deployment processes, deployment models.

Strong technical background in build, release, and developer environments.
