The Real Estate Services group is located in the Corporate Services division of Bell Canada, and manages the real estate portfolio of BCE and its subsidiaries. Our mandate is to provide all Bell Canada and BCE employees with efficient and dynamic work environments while helping the company meet its business objectives by optimizing its real estate portfolio. We are also responsible for the reliability of electro-mechanical systems and general maintenance of building infrastructure, including employee workspace, telecommunications facilities and equipment storage.

We are currently seeking a manager – building operations to join our team.

Responsible for the day to day operations of one or various facilities, including but not limited to critical infrastructure equipment management, equipment maintenance and repairs, incident management, adherence to company and industry protocols, security management and management of building  technicians. Also provides technical direction and consulting services on project as well as capital planning and building operations budget development.  The incumbent must ensure that systems are maintained or upgraded to leading best practices and manufacturer's recommendations, responding to system failures thus protecting business operations from interruptions/malfunctions.

The incumbent is a mechanical and electrical operations subject matter expert with specific expertise in the following fields:

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS),

Power Generators

Electrical commercial  or industrial distribution

HVAC (heating, ventilation & air conditioning)

Building controls (DDC, BAS)

Plumbing

Fire detection and suppression systems

The Building Operations Manager has overall accountability for the following tasks:

Oversee the operation and maintenance of building systems to ensure an optimal environment for data centers and administrative areas (zero tolerance for failures). These systems include heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, electricity, emergency power, fire protection, etc.

Oversee and manage operational activities such preventative maintenance and repairs carried out by technical staff, technicians and contractors.

Ensure that his direct reports are supervised, trained and supported so that all services are provided quickly and professionally.

Intervene in case of incident or system failure and coordinate activities related to the rapid and efficient business recovery.

Maintain up-to-date equipment and building documentation.

Identify points of single failure and implement the necessary adjustments to their elimination.

Regularly monitor the capacity and historical growth to ensure availability of all building electrical / mechanical systems.

Manage expenses incurred in his/her area of responsibility to ensure that they meet the established budgets.

Review investment budgets and equipment replacement programs.

Supervise services provided by suppliers and contractors. Ensure the provision of optimal services.

Negotiate contracts and services with the help of procurement.

Support best practices to reduce energy consumption.

Review and implement the procedures for emergency, environmental and health and safety measures in order to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and other requirements in force.

Skills and Qualifications:

Electrical/Mechanical Engineer or Technologist with related building expertise.

Licensed Individual (Electrical or Mechanical building certification), an asset.

At least seven years of experience in operations management of critical facilities or maintenance of major industrial facilities.

Strong trouble shooting skills.  Detail and process oriented.

Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office suite.

Strong time management and communication skills (verbal and written).

Strong interpersonal skills and Customer Service skills.

Some experience in management of staff, an asset

Inspiring leadership skills

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
