Covid and an earthquake changed my career trajectory. In early 2020, I was on cloud nine, and I was excited about where the brand was heading. It had been my great privilege to serve as the Marketing Coordinator for the company, and I loved everything they stood for and the people I worked with. But in early 2020, it became evident that Covid was changing things and how businesses were going to survive the pandemic. Everyone was questioning how their industry might be affected. And to add insult to injury, an earthquake damaged a warehouse with which we worked also complicating things. It was a rough period of time for literally every person in the world.

Thankfully I was able to land at a lovely home decor company as their Marketing Coordinator. As an avid antique lover and all things home decor, it was an exciting adventure to embark upon. The job was part-time which led me to start thinking about how I should fill my time. With much prayer and fasting, I determined it was time to go back to school and work on my degree. I selected Digital Marketing as my focus and set to work completing the coursework that would provide me that degree.

It has been a long and often tiring road filled with classes that I hated (Operations Management), and classes that I loved (Marketing Analytics). I learned that I don't retain things as well as I used to; but if I love something, I'll dive as deep as I can into the subject. I took classes in Business Strategy, Social Media and Content Management, Accounting and Economics; and I worked with some amazing teams in consulting and group projects. It was humbling, fascinating, difficult, challenging, and wonderful all at once. I knew I was doing exactly what I wanted and learning things I had always wanted to know more about.

With classes soon coming to an end, I knew it was time to find a new place to fall. I began the job hunt looking for a place in which I could expand my marketing career. I love talking about business, brands, and products that excite me. Marketing was the perfect place for me to be and so began the hunt for the job where I could perhaps make a difference and grow with the company.

I have learned a lot about myself during the interview process. I learned my strengths. I recognized some areas in which I needed to improve. I could see my progress over the years. I reminisced about all the jobs that I have had the privilege of holding. And I looked forward to finding something new that was a good fit both for me, as well as, the company I would work for.

As I currently look for that perfect position, I feel very blessed and wanted to say a very deep thank you to some incredible people. Thank you to those who invited me into your company family. Thank you to those who gave me opportunities to grow. Thank you to those who became my life-long friends. Thank you to those who gave me priceless advice and unique adventures. I am incredibly grateful for every place at which I have worked because each place had something special about it. I'm one lucky girl, and I'm looking forward to what's next!
