Sustainability and carbon Net Zero are high on the agenda for governments and organisations around the globe.
With COP26 being hosted in Glasgow this year, it’s the perfect time to shine a light on what businesses must do to contribute.
In 2015 all member states of the United Nations created and adopted the ‘Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – a set of 17 objectives to be achieved by 2030 to tackle poverty, inequality and of course climate change.
Our own CEO Jon Lewis was one of 12 Chief Execs of major companies that co-authored a letter to UK Cabinet in 2019 leading the charge to host this event and grab the opportunity to be a beacon to the rest of the world in achieving these goals at such a crucial time.

A mammoth task
Achieving carbon net zero by 2030 will be a mammoth task. 51 billion tonnes of greenhouses gases are pumped into the atmosphere every year. Reducing that to zero will require innovation across every sector, new businesses and old, and an overhaul of how we as humans consume. It’s a fascinating and exciting subject to delve into, and the urgency that faces our planet has brought out some incredibly talented intelligent minds to help shape today and tomorrow. 2 good resources, if you’re interested in digging a little deeper are ‘How To Avoid A Climate Disaster’ by Bill Gates, along with Breakthrough Energy, his investment foundation focussing on green innovation, and also Ellen MacArthur Foundation developing and promoting the concept of ‘Circular Economy’.
Innovative steps towards sustainability
Here at Capita TI we’re proud of our client base and are lucky enough to work with some of the world’s largest organisations, including many in the Humanitarian Aid and Public Sectors.
