The 15-month residential PGPX program run by IIM Udaipur (IIMU), is custom built for candidates interested in building a career in the field of Supply Chain Management (SCM). It offers a unique dual degree program in partnership with the prestigious Krannert School of Management at Purdue University in the USA. The program is designed for candidates with a minimum relevant work experience of 30 months. It is worth noting that, this is the only one year MBA program in India intensively focused on SCM.

The course begins with a 5-month module at IIM Udaipur, followed by an 8-week module called Experiential Learning (Industrial Internship) with some leading companies. The candidates then head off to Krannert School of Management at the Purdue University (Indiana, USA) where they spend the fall semester (Aug-Dec) and eventually graduate with a MS in Global Supply Chain Management (MS-GSCM) in December. The program finally culminates with a 3-month module at IIM Udaipur. After the completion of this module at IIMU campus, the candidates graduate with dual degrees. The entire 15-month program is not only academically rigorous but also develops the managerial skills of candidates by making them work on stretching objectives within challenging timelines.

The current batch (2016-17) of the PGPX at IIMU, not only boasts of vast work experience (both local as well as international) but also of varied backgrounds such as IT Consulting, Manufacturing, Construction, Telecom, Entrepreneurship, and Medicine. The average work experience of the batch is 6.5 years with candidate’s experience ranging between 3-20 years. The average GMAT score of the current batch is 640.

The experiential learning module is one of the many highlights of this program and is a unique feature for a one-year MBA program within India. The candidates get an insight into the supply chain & operations domain through hands-on experience of working on real life situations experienced by the corporates and by working on initiatives that would help deliver value for the organizations. The knowledge of supply chain & operations fundamentals gained during the first module spent at IIM Udaipur helps the students in understanding and designing models that would help the companies in solving problems as well as to execute long-term initiatives.

Selection for these live projects is through a rigorous process of shortlisting of CV’s, followed by telephonic/Skype interviews with the company representatives. The candidates are tested on their past work experience and their knowledge of Supply Chain fundamentals, on the basis of which internships are offered. Thus, the candidates also get a first-hand taste of resume building and interview skills during this process.

The current PGPX batch completed their Experiential Learning module (Jun-July ’16) at reputed companies such as Siemens, Cummins, United Biscuits, Cargill Foods, Tupperware, Mahindra Spares, Larsen & Toubro, Carrier, TVS Logistics, Volvo-Eicher and Reliance, to name a few. The selection of the students from the 2016-17 PGPX batch at such renowned organizations further solidifies the trust that the Supply Chain Industry has, in this program and in IIM Udaipur. Having successfully completed this module, the feedback from the entire batch has been synonymous, that it has been an invaluable learning experience which will help them further grow in the field of Supply Chain & Operations.

At present, the entire batch is in the USA completing the fall semester at Purdue, for the degree of MS in Global SCM.
