This restaurant was named after Ni Rondji, a woman who managed to captivate the heart of Balinese painter Don Antonio Blanco. It is said that it was not only her exceptional beauty, but also her fantastic cooking skills, that made the painter fall head over heels in love with her.

The complex consists of Blanco Renaissance Museum and a beautiful restaurant where you get a chance to taste the art of cooking. They offer not only European cuisine with French and Italian influences, but also traditional Balinese dishes like Rondji Duck – delicious! There is also a wide selection of tapas and cocktails if you want something light.

The dining experience is not complete until you visit the museum, where there’s a collection of hundreds of Don Antonio Blanco´s paintings. Together, the museum and the restaurant are often considered to be symbols of two people who love each other.

Despite being located near the busy Sunset Road, you can still feel the cozy and intimate atmosphere in this hidden restaurant.

At first sight, L’Assiette may appear simple, but once you step inside, you will be amazed by the Bohemian-style dining room full of antique art objects.

And if you are looking for a more romantic atmosphere, you will love the backyard. There is a beautiful hidden garden with a few gazebos, perfect for couples in love to spend some private moments together while having dinner.

4. Floating on a lake: Resto Apung in Kintamani (Prices start at USD 12 for two)

Resto Apung is located on the shore of Lake Batur but you can choose (who wouldn’t?) to eat on the gazebo, which is built on a platform that skims the lake’s surface, connected to the restaurant by a walkway.

The most striking aspect of dining at Resto Apung is of course the unusual location – cool fresh air, the peaceful silence that cloaks the lake, Mount Batur rising over the world and the changing light over the water.

And the food is nothing to scoff at.

You can feast on Indonesian cuisine – the fried chicken and goreng pisang are divine, and fish is served up fresh from the lake itself.

Here at Lola Restaurant’s Love Corner, you can dine pretty with that special someone at the Love Table, with water cascading down into the indoor pool. What better way to spend a romantic night than in your own private space by the poolside?

The place serves authentic Indonesian cuisine for lunch and dinner, but if you fancy something more exquisite, ask the staff for a private menu (they have an extensive wine list too!)

Surrounded by leaves and bathed in sunlight, you can gaze at mountains, valleys and beaches from on high – it will definitely be a Valentine’s Day to remember.

Our recommendation? Do try the wagyu beef burger.

9. Relax in traditional settings for a cosy authentic Balinese dinner – Warung Dandelion (Prices start at USD 20 for two)

Don’t be surprised if you feel right at home in Warung Dandelion. This is exactly what the owner Gani intended.

When he first sought to open his own restaurant, he wanted to create a place where guests could gather and experience themselves as the beautiful, unique individuals that they are.

Photo via shlasasha, rlinachang

Bearing that in mind, he sought to make his open-concept restaurant “a place with heart”. And it shows through his selection of the antique wooden furniture, the menus he carefully made using his typewriter, and even extends to the way he chooses his staff.

Photo via vandanathapar, lianna_sem

When you’re here, don’t forget their specialties – the vegetable kebabs and gado-gado! You should also try out the Djamu – a traditional Indonesian health drink made out of natural ingredients such as roots, leaves and fruit. (There are rabbits you can cuddle with too!)

10. Nice Nice Rice – Terracotta Restaurant (Prices start at USD 25 for two)

Get away from the bustle of Ubud town and settle yourself in an expanse of emerald rice fields at the beautiful Terracotta Restaurant.

Photo via: nomnombali

Rice is a crucial Balinese commodity, so being able to see these active paddy fields is an experience in itself. Watch the fields in various stages of growth and harvest yourself a grand view with the majestic Palms fringing the edges.

Photo via: flickaT, Wilson S

The restaurant is housed in a traditional open sided Bale – with the breeze and sounds of nature drifting across the restaurant adding to the already peaceful environment.

The authentic Indonesian cuisine at Terracotta is all beautifully presented and full of mouth-watering flavours.

Enjoy a romantic meal on the terrace as the sun sets across the fields, and feel at one with the nature around you. The Romantic Dinner set menu is a perfect way to spend the evening with a loved one.

Alternatively, why not try a romantic breakfast? Enjoy freshly prepared food and tropical juices as the sun rises over the fields. Watch the workers begin their day in the paddy fields and appreciate how hard the Balinese locals work.

It’s amazing to know that the rice on your plate came from those little rice plants! And for some reason, eating rice whilst surrounded by paddy fields makes it taste extra delicious.

Photo via: Baligo

A giant glass window overlooking a spectacular view of lush paddy fields is also proportionately placed to give an extra oomph of scenery.

Complete with the flowing melodies from the pianist’s baby grand, the last thing that is a match of the overall tastefulness is the chef’s tantalizing creations.

Whether you are stopping for a quick drink, a bite of lunch or a luxurious meal – Bridges caters for everything.

We were blown away by the seafood-carrot veloute and it’s hard to believe, but it tastes even better than it looks.

Bridges prides itself on its extensive selection of imported wines. Divine hour (everyday 4 to 7pm) is like happy hour – except you can enjoy your favourite tipple in absolute paradise.

Indonesian cuisine is varied and delicious but you will struggle to find cheese on most menus. If you are missing this dairy treat then you are in luck. Bridges also offers a fantastic range of imported cheese.

We think Bridges is the perfect place for a little self-indulgence. Enjoy an evening of wine and cheese in a picturesque valley? Sounds like heaven to us.

You can see it all from up here, the Sapat River Valley, and acres of beautifully landscaped private gardens.

Kampung Café is part of the Kampung Villas Resort – a private sanctuary of peace and beauty. Owned by a trained Japanese Chef and master woodcarver, his fondness for beautiful wood is obvious.

The Japanese influence can also be seen in the menu – the Tuna Tataki and rice paper rolls are to die for.

There is something for everyone on the Kampung Menu, authentic Indonesian, a touch of Mexican and even some European classics.

From the second you arrive at the tropical garden entrance, you will realise that this restaurant is all about the Bebek – the duck!

Statues of ducks, live ducks and the delicious crispy duck on your plate make it clear – as does the name of this fantastic restaurant!

Situated at the corner of a paddy field, you can gaze out across the rows of little rice plants and listen to the gentle buzz of the surrounding nature.

Photo via: chaeamando

The odd duck quack will add to this authentic experience as the ducks splash around their pond and enjoy basking in the sunshine.

Once the sun starts to set across the field on a friday evening, the view from this restaurant focuses on the traditional stage. Classical Legong dancers and gamelan musicians will entertain you in the most authentic of Balinese shows.

The menu is a mixture of Indonesian, Western, Asian and other International dishes. All freshly prepared, reasonably priced and of course, truly delicious.
