Head towards Barnes & Noble with your little one this Valentine’s Day for a lovely story time session. One of the books to be read is called “The Secret Life of Squirrels: A Love Story” and is written by Nancy Rose. In this sequel to the original book of the same title, Mr. Peanuts is going about as usual until he realizes he has a strong desire to meet a lady squirrel. His luck changes when he eventually meets one and they share a bunch of romantic dates together. The other book to be read is called “Valentine’s Day is Cool” and is written by James Dean. In this story starring Pete the Cat, the beloved feline protagonist embarks on a wild adventure after forgetting to write a Valentine’s Day card to his someone special.

Are you looking to dazzle your date with a Valentine’s Day to remember? If so, the American Museum of Natural History is offering a one-of-a-kind experience for all lovers out there. The evening will kick off with a cocktail and champagne hour in the Cullman Hall of the Universe. An open bar, hors d’oeuvres, and chocolates will be served along jazz music provided by the Josh Rutner Quartet. The night will continue under the stars at the Hayden Planetarium where a lovely view of the constellations above awaits. An astronomer will be narrating love stories based on ancient myths as couples dine and wine at their own convenience.

Central Park Ice Festival

The Central Park Ice Festival will be back for its sixth annual year at the Naumburg Bandshell. The spectacular event will kick off at 3pm with a live ice carving by artists from Okamoto Studio. Collectively, they’ll be carving more than 6,000 pounds of ice into some of Central Park’s most beloved bronze and stone monuments. Right afterwards, a Silent Disco featuring 3 DJ’s will have everyone grooving all night long. The DJ’s will be playing some of the best hits of the 80s and 90s. So plug in those headphones, pick your own music channel, and dance along with your date at V-Day’s coolest festival!

Dine at Serafina

The popular Northern Italian eatery is preparing a special menu for Valentine’s Day. For starters, a glass of champagne and pizza tartufo will be served. The menu offers a choice of either carpaccio di filetto, heart-shaped lobster ravioli, or sea bass al pinot grigio for main entree. Diners can also order tagliolini al tartufo or spaghetti al cavile for an additional $5. The meal closes with the serving of a heart-shaped berry tart. The romantic ambiance at Serafina and the delicious food will surely make this an occasion to remember.

An intimate and romantic concert at Symphony Space could be the perfect choice for those couples that share a passion for music. “Love Resounding” will see the inaugural performance concert by the newly formed ARK Trio. The talented trio is composed by by soprano Allison Charney, cellist Kajsa William-Olsson and pianist Reiko Uchida. Together they will introduce the audience to six world premieres on the same night. The vocal prowess of Ms. Charney will surely captivate your other half’s heart. Ms. Uchida plays the piano expertly after having performed at the White House and received the first prize position in the Joanna Hodges Piano Competition. Ms. William-Olsson tours and performs around the world as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician. Get ready for their world premiere event this Valentine’s Day!
