Hello Everyone! I have an exciting announcement to make. As of January 2020, I have moved to Rhode Island. If you’ve been following me on social media, this won’t be a shock, since I’ve been more active there than on here recently and have talked a lot about my love for the state.
The day I moved.
All my stuff.
Me and the Ocean. <3
But the week of January 1st, 2020, I moved to Rhode Island to start a brand new job at Salve Regina University (a place I’m absolutely in LOVE with) in Newport, Rhode Island (a place I’m also absolutely in LOVE with).
So January 2020 has brought with it a new year, a new decade, a new home, a new job, a new state…. WOW! It’s amazing how the events all converged to bring so much NEWNESS to my life all at once.
And now, I have something MORE to announce. As of this month, January 2020, I have a brand new website with totally new branding.
Here’s the new logo, if you didn’t notice it up top already…
I’m calling my website Teryn O’Brien Art & Movement because it most represents what I hope to do as I move forward with my online presence:
Lots of art.
Lots of movement.
Lots of writing.
And lots and lots of conversations around healing, hope, and life.
I haven’t really consistently blogged in a while, and there are a lot of reasons for that. For a while, I didn’t have a voice anymore. I didn’t know what I should say or how to say it. There was winter in my soul, and I went through some of the deepest darkness I’ve ever faced as I let go of the old Teryn in order to survive for something totally New.
Through that period of Death, I emerged from the ashes. The symbolism that most spoke to me in 2017-19 was the Phoenix, because I felt like I had died and was slowly learning to live again out of unspeakable pain.
But as a Phoenix, no one tells you that emerging from the ashes is a process of learning to grow, fly, and thrive once more. It isn’t overnight. It’s slow and arduous and well, painful at points to find your footing after Life comes back.
But I knew there was more for me still. Death and Resurrection were both part of my story.
Someday, I will tell the whole story of this time. But it was too intense to communicate about yet, too painful and personal. And I know that’s saying a lot, because many times in the past I poured out my heart and soul online. But things got… well, really deep. And I knew if I did not focus inward and really do some profound self care, I wouldn’t make it. In fact, some of it I may never share publicly for a long, long time. And that’s okay.
So I took a step back, focused on healing, and have now come to a place of hope and life that I honestly never thought I would reach a few years ago.
Moral of the story? Never give up. It’s been a motto I’ve repeated over and over to myself since 2016 when everything seemed to be at its bleakest.
Never give up.
So now, what’s next? Well, I’ve grown up a lot since I started blogging way back in 2011. (It’s almost been 10 years!) This site has seen several shifts, and now it’s completely changed.
I’m going to focus not as much on the blog as much as creating other forms of content like videos, podcasts, and workshops. However, you will see shorter posts from me here occasionally highlighting what’s going on. But my true soul writings and projects will be reserved for other avenues.
What does that look like?
First off, subscribe to my new newsletter, because some of the the deeper content will be housed there instead of here publicly. When you subscribe, you’ll get a free guided meditation to help you relax. The heart of my content will be coming from there because it’s a much more intimate space.
Second, keep your eye out, because soon I will be creating things like workshops and videos. My workshops will be live and/or online. (Again, a great way to stay connected is through my newsletter.)
If you haven’t subscribed to my social media channels like YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook, then do so!
Other Cool Things may be in the in works, but I’m not yet ready to announce those yet…
For now, thank you for reading and journeying with me on this crazy thing called life. I truly am honored if you are interested in my little corner of the internet.
