This year marks Standard Chartered KL Marathon’s (SCKLM) 8th installation and will take place on Sunday, 7th August at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur. As such, 24 roads including 2 highways in Kuala Lumpur will face partial or full closure this Sunday due to the marathon.
The Star quoted city police chief Comm Datuk Amar Singh as saying that the closure would start as early as 2am and the roads would be reopened after the marathon concludes at about 11am.
“There are about 35,000 participants this year and we are working closely with the organisers to make sure everything runs smoothly. I urge the public to plan their travels accordingly on Sunday and use public transport whenever possible,” he said at a press conference at the city traffic police headquarters today (Tuesday, 2nd August).
He also urged road users to follow the instructions of the traffic policemen on duty. The roads that are expected to be closed are:

Jalan Sultan Ismail

Meanwhile, SCKLM organiser Dirigo Events Sdn Bhd has announced complimentary public transportation services for all SCKLM runners.
Selected stations at the Ampang, Sri Petaling, Kelana Jaya, and Monorail train lines will commence operations from 2am and will run at an interval of 10 minutes.
Runners may park their vehicles at stations with park-and-ride facilities free of charge provided they exit parking by 10am. The LRT service will be complimentary from 2am – 6am, and normal
operations and standard charges will apply thereafter.
