The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 22 July 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: electrical repair/lighting repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical and lighting repairs will start this week.

The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 July for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M1 junction 1, the A406, A41 and the A1.

The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 28 July for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1 and the A41 to M1 junction 4.

M3 junction 2 (M25), Surrey: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The dedicated link road from the M3 southbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 25 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 11 and return.

M4 junction 2 Kew, Greater London: carriageway inspection

Work to maintain safety by carrying out carriageway and structural inspections will start this week. The westbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 July for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A4 and the A312 to M4 junction 3. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 3, A312 and the A4.

The eastbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 July for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A4 to the Chiswick Roundabout and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 1 at the A4.

M4 junction 3 Harlington, Greater London: drainage survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage surveys will continue this week. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 29 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4 and return.

M4 junction 4 West Drayton, Greater London: drainage survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage surveys will continue this week. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 25 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 5 and return.

The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 26 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 5 and return.

The westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 27 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3 and return.

M20 junctions 2 Wrotham to 3 (M26), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 July for 5 nights. Work on Friday will begin at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2, A20 London Road and the M26 to M20 junction 3.

M25 junction 3 (M20), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M20 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 July for 5 nights and on Sunday 31 July. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 3 roundabout.

M25 junction 5 (A21), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway between the slip roads at junction 5 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 28 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 spur road to the A25 Westerham Road junction and return.

M25 junction 10 (A3), Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 26 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 11 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 9 and return.

M25 junction 14 (A3113), Greater London: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Friday 29 July for 5 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13 and return.

M25 junction 15 (M4), Greater London: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Wednesday 27 July for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M4 eastbound to junction 4 and return.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Friday 29 July for 5 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 17 and return.

M25 Heathrow Terminal 5, Greater London: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The dedicated link road from the Terminal 5 slip road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Friday 29 July for 5 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 13 and return.

M25 junction 16 (M40), Buckinghamshire: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M40 westbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 25 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 17 and return.

The dedicated link road from the M25 anti-clockwise to the M40 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 26 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40 westbound to junction 2 and return.

M25 junction 19 Watford, Hertfordshire: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 26 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 20 and the A41 to junction 19.

M25 junction 21 (M1), Hertfordshire: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M1 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 25 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 22 and return.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 25 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 22 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 26 July for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13 eastbound, A128 and A127 to M25 junction 29.

M25 junctions 30 Thurrock to 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 25 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the link road between junctions 31 and 30.

The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 26 July and between 11pm and 6am on Friday 29 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the link road between junctions 30 and 31.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: bridge maintenance work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge maintenance work starts this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Saturday 30 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30.

A1(M) junction 1 (M25), Hertfordshire: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 28 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1 southbound to Borehamwood and return.

A1(M) junction 2 Welham Green, Hertfordshire: lining work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out road lining work will start this week. The northbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 25 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3, the A1001 and return.

A2 (M25), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The dedicated link road from the A2 westbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 July for 5 nights and on Sunday 31 July. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 2 roundabout.

A3 Ockham, Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 28 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via B2039 Ockham Road North, Ockham Lane, Downside Road, Bridge Road and A245 to the Painshill junction.

A3 (M25), Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The northbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 25 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the Ockham junction and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via the Painshill junction and return.

A3 Esher, Surrey: Ride London

To facilitate the Ride London cycle event, the exit slip roads will be closed in both directions between 5am and 23.59am on Sunday 31 July. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 25 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and Wennington (A1306) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 26 July for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1306.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 28 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306 and M25 junction 31.

A40 Denham, Buckinghamshire: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 27 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4020 and the B483 to Swakeleys roundabout.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: maintenance

The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9.30pm and 5.30am, on Friday 29 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A282 junctions 1b Dartford to 2 (A2), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 July for 5 nights and on Sunday 31 July. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit slip road at junction 1b and the dedicated link road to junction 2.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

The QEII Bridge will be closed closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Saturday 30 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the eastern bore of the Dartford Tunnel which will be operating in reverse flow mode.
