Police make arrests after men caught spray painting

Over recent months there have been a number of mischief related incidents reported in the downtown area where unknown suspects caused property damage using spray paint and other substances on the businesses walls and property.

Police have been investigating each of the incidents and determined that some of the crimes may be linked based on their similarities and geographical location to one another.

A/Sgt Marco D’Arcangelo, a Crime Manager assigned to the central downtown area, assisted with the coordination of various police resources assigned to investigate and worked alongside many of the victims to gather information in relation to the crimes.

On January 10, 2016, a 19 year old man and a 20 year old man were arrested after they were observed in the area of Lottridge Street vandalizing property with spray paint near the railway line and writing the word “DUCE” with the paint. Upon arrest, spray paint and other evidence relating to the mischief were seized as part of the investigation.
