Experiencing the natural beauty of the Lakes Region in New Hampshire is as easy as hopping aboard the M/S Mount Washington. Groups can enjoy the spectacular views from a comfortable seat on the deck of the ship.

Cruises are offered daily from the homeport of Weirs Beach, with ports in Wolfeboro, Meredith, Center Harbor and Alton Bay.

Lake Winnipesaukee is the largest lake in New Hampshire, known for its spring-fed, crystal blue waters. It is the third-largest lake in New England after Lake Champlain and Moosehead Lake. The lake is more than 21 miles long and at the widest point, 15 miles wide. Nestled within mountain ranges and sprinkled with hundreds of islands, the lake has a legendary reputation for exquisite beauty.

Its name, Winnipesaukee, is a Native American word that translates to English to either “smile of the Great Spirit” or “beautiful water in a high place”.

“Spending time here brings people back in time a little bit to Americana, mom and pop, and apple pie,” said Captain Jim Morash, who started as a deck hand in 1979.

The company first began doing cruises on the lake in 1872. The cruises travel among scenic islands and exquisite summer homes — many date back to the 1800s.

Mount Washington is the fleet’s flagship vessel, stretching 230 feet. Two other vessels, the M/V Sophie C. and M/V Doris E. round out the fleet. All of the ships have restroom facilities on board.

Cruises can run as brief as one-hour scenic cruises to much longer evening dinner dance cruises, which feature a full dinner menu and live entertainment. Longer daytime scenic cruises and a mail boat option are available.

Reservations are requested to be made two weeks to a month in advance. If not in fall foliage season, tours can book up to a few days before the cruise. If food is involved, a minimum of a few weeks’ advance notice is required.

Groups should plan on arriving at least 30 minutes prior to departure times. Free motorcoach parking is available nearby, and group rates are available.
