North York Moors
The Grapes Slingsby
The Crown Inn, Hutton-le-Hole
The pretty village of Hutton-le-Hole is home to The Ryedale Fold Museum and this traditional dog-friendly pub.
The Moors Inn, Appleton-le-Moors
Dogs will be giving a warm welcome at The Moors Inn, which dates all the way back to the 17th century!
The Grapes, Slingsby
This Grade II listed building has been beautifully renovated into a traditional pub with a warm and cosy atmosphere. Easily reached from Malton, Hovingham and Helmsley.
The Plough Inn, Wombleton
The Plough has served fine ales to customers since the 15th century and uses the finest locally sourced ingredients on its food menu.
The Buck Inn, Chopgate
Just 2.5 miles from Clay Bank Top on Wainwright’s Coast to Coast walk, you’ll find seasonal food and a wide range of German beers at The Buck Inn.
Yorkshire Dales
The Wensleydale Heifer, West Witton
This renowned restaurant has a gorgeous position looking out over Penhill in the Dales. They do a great selection of fish and seafood. The bar area and snug are dog-friendly.
The Kings Arms, Reeth
The Kings Arms looks over the village green in the pretty Dales village of Reeth. They supply a special menu of food for dogs. They can even enjoy a Doggie Beer by the Inglenook fire while you sup on a Cask Ale!
The Farmers Arms, Muker
A selection of walks will lead you to this traditional pub in Upper Swaledale. You’ll find a selection of hearty meals and real ale to enjoy by the open fire!
The Blue Bell Inn, Kettlewell
Situated in the heart of Upper Swaledale, Kettlewell was used as the fictional village of Knapely in the film calendar girls. Sit outside and enjoy the scenery when the weather is nice and head in to the roaring fire when it isn’t!
The Lion, Settle
The Lion is located close to Settle’s market square and gives a warm welcome to four-legged friends. They can enjoy fresh water and nibbles while you tuck into a hearty meal.
Yorkshire Coast
The Bay Hotel, Robin Hoods Bay
Marking the end of the coast-to-coast walk from St. Bees, The Bay is situated in the dock of Robin Hood’s Bay. The dog-friendly bar offers a range of food and drinks.
Cod and Lobster, Staithes
The Cod & Lobster is as close to the sea as you can get in Staithes. Watch the boats go by as you enjoy some freshly caught fish with some drinks to wash it down.
The Anvil Inn, Sawdon
Right next door to Gorgeous Cottage The Old Nailshed, this beautiful building was a working forge from the 1700s to 1985. Nowadays you’ll find fine food and drink to enjoy amongst original features which include the old anvil and bellows.
The Copper Horse, near Cayton Bay
We love the opulent feel of the recently redecorated Copper Horse. It’s certainly very stylish with a copper-topped bar and range of show business pictures that pay homage to nearby Scarborough.
The Hart Inn, Sandsend
This pub is close to the beach in Sandsend and does an excellent crab sandwich. Perfect for heading to after a brisk walk by the sea with your dog!
Dog-friendly Yorkshire Beaches
There’s miles and miles of fantastic coastline in Yorkshire and dogs can get their feet wet at a whole range of dog friendly beaches. Here is just a small selection to try:
Cayton Bay
A quiet beach which is just down the road from Scarborough and a good option for a peaceful walk with your pet. It’s also very popular with surfers.
Robin Hood’s Bay
This very pretty fisherman’s village is well worth a visit. There’s a steep incline from the cliffs at the top to the beach below but you can explore a maze of streets that were once used for smuggling on your way.
Runswick Bay
The walk along the cliffs from Robin Hood’s Bay to Runswick Bay is pretty special and you will be rewarded with stunning views and another fabulous beach. This one has a long sandy stretch for dogs to run along!
Staithes
Another firm favourite, Staithes is an extremely pretty fishing village and kids will love the fact it was used for the CBBC series Old Jack’s Boat. The beach is sheltered by the harbour and is fully dog-friendly.

This open-air museum in Hutton-le-Hole gives a glimpse into rural life in the past with historic buildings and live demonstrations.
Stateley Homes and Abbeys
Dogs on leads are welcome in the grounds of many historic buildings including Burton Agnes Hall, Helmsley Castle, Bolton Abbey, Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey, Beningborough Hall and Whitby Abbey.
Thorp Perrow Arboretum
This 100-acre arboretum is close to Bedale and home to a wide range of shrubs, plants and trees. You’ll also find a variety of trails, a large lake and a lovely picnic area.
Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park
