It’s no secret I’ve been awaiting a Wonder Woman film forever. If you’ve been reading ALL THINGS GEEK you’ll recall my call for a Wonder Woman live action film “The Fierce Urgency of Wonder Woman” and my defense of Gal Godot’s casting “Wailing on Gadot Wonder Woman and the War on Women.”
Warner Bros. gave us a great intro to Gal Godot’s Wonder Woman, regardless of how you felt about the rest of Batman vs. Superman (read my review) and two of my favorite You Tube channels Emergency Awesome and Bat In The Sun feature Themyscira’s favorite daughter in two not to be missed videos!

Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), disobeys her mother, Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen); breaks into her armory on her idyllic all-female island of Themyscira; and — as seen in the trailer steals the Amazon’s mythical sword, the “god killer,” before heading to war torn WWI Europe.

“This is her moment,” says director Patty Jenkins (Monster). In an interview with EW, “She’s heard all the terrible things about man’s land. But she’s also heard that mankind is in need and under duress. This is her great moment to make the decision to be the one to try and save them.”
The “Sword of Athena” first appeared in BvS. “GodKiller” better reflects the inscription on the sword, taken from Joseph Campbell’s Goddesses: Mysteries of the Feminine Divine: “Life is killing life all the time and so the goddess kills herself in the sacrifice of her own animal.” This self sacrifice, I believe is why an immortal princess of an idyllic realm would chose to leave her home to help mankind. This is central to who Diana of Themyscira is.

Next is BAT IN THE SUN. WONDER WOMAN vs WOLVERINE – Super Power Beat Down (Episode 20) … The concept of the SPBD web series is to take two super powered legends and make them battle! It’s basically the game we all played all our lives about who beats who! Woman in particular is phenomenal! I’ve always enjoyed their super high quality work and this fight in particular is awesomeness personified. This Super Power Beat Down is my favorite since BATMAN vs. DARTH VADER.
