Xeric founders Mitch & Andrew Greenblatt have taken a very rare approach to growing a modern brand in a very traditional industry — not surprising for a family-owned business that takes pride in designing unique mechanical timepieces for the 21st century. But while there are some who would assume a millennial audience wouldn’t be interested in buying a mechanical watch, Xeric has proven that the modern re-envisioning of the mechanical watch has an audience that is as passionate about watchmaking as they are.

Xeric sees themselves as a design-centric, Kickstarter first, brand. Unlike traditional brands that tend to design watches in silos for mass-market channels, Xeric turns to crowdfunding and social media to find out what their audience wants, and allows the combined passions of watchmaker and enthusiast to feed off one another to result in a truly captivating timepiece. Their limited production runs, passion, and attention to detail only help them give their supporters a high-quality product that truly stands out.

And their strategy is working. After three successful Kickstarter campaigns for their Halograph, Xeriscope, and Soloscope that raised over $2M, they have recently announced their fourth limited-edition design:

The Xeric Evergraph Automatic Watch

Taking inspiration from the iconic city of San Francisco, their goal was to imagine what a Xeric watch would have looked like if it were designed a hundred years ago with, an aesthetic that would remain timeless even a hundred years into the future. While this might seem like a lofty goal, re-inventing the traditional mechanical wristwatch is what Xeric is all about. It is an uncompromising ideal that they share with their supporters in the Kickstarter and horology communities.

The Evergraph is powered by one of the best Japanese automatic movements available: the Miyota 82S0. This dependable movement has a reputation as a workhorse and is featured in many high-quality watches from more mainstream brands, and has been a particular favorite of the Xeric design team for years. Not wanting the wearer to miss out on the beauty and the precision of the watch as it keeps time, their design accentuates windows in the face and caseback that allows you to be mesmerized by the movement in action.

With the artistry of the Xeric signature time display, and their clever use of double-sided hands, cut-aways, and hemicycle dials, what at first glance might seem complex becomes second-nature. A modest-but-handsome 44mm stainless steel case size leaves ample room for numbering to be clear and easy to interpret through its sapphire-coated crystal, and each watch in the production run is individually numbered, with only 999 pieces of each color to be made. The Evergraph is also available with bands in traditional leather from historic American tannery Horween, or 5-link stainless steel.

Inspired by the Past, Designed for the Future

Every Xeric watch design begins with a number 2 pencil, piles of white paper, and a passion for rethinking traditional watch design — the Evergraph is no exception, rather it is the next exciting design from watchmakers who are truly driven to create something special, every time.
