SUTTER CREEK – Firefighters were battling a fire at a fiber plant that spread to nearby vegetation in the Sutter Creek area Monday afternoon.

There were multiple firefighting units at Ampine Timber Products Company. Everyone was able to evacuate safely from the building, though officials said the plant appears to be a total loss.

There were no nearby evacuations ordered to the surrounding area, according to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office.

The Amador Fire Protection District said the firefighter’s injuries were minor and they were transported to a hospital for precautionary reasons.

Though the fire was still burning into the evening hours, officials said all of the vegetation spot fires were contained.
