However, most of the time, we watch the lucky few seated in first class and feel envious of their comfortable seats and free drinks.
You know that first-class passengers enjoy a travel experience that's completely different from the one you get in coach. However, you might not be aware of all the amenities available to the rich. Here are details on some of the most luxurious, over-the-top first-class cabins out there, so you can see what you're missing.
Singapore Airlines
Singapore Airlines, headquartered in Singapore, flies to destinations all over the world, including Moscow and Zurich. A flight in its First Class SkySuites from Los Angeles, Calif., to Seoul, Korea, in December will cost you a whopping $10,400.
The onboard suites were created by Jean-Jacques Coste, a luxury yacht designer, and feature leather seats. Additionally, the space can be transformed into a dining area or lounging space and includes a separate bed. The space is self-enclosed and can be opened to accommodate two seats if you are flying with a partner.
Singapore Airlines has its own International Culinary Panel, and meals can be ordered on board or in advance. Food is served on Wedgwood china that is exclusive to Singapore Airlines.
To keep you entertained, flights feature more than 1,000 entertainment options, including music, movies and apps, which you can enjoy on your own 23-inch screen, complete with Bose noise-cancelling headphones. On some flights, you can even use Wi-Fi and messaging.

Japan Airlines
On JAL, first-class tickets from New York City to Tokyo, Japan, in early December will cost you approximately $19,528. After a private check-in from the JAL Lounge, passengers can relax in fully reclining seats in their almost totally enclosed pods. The food is rumored to be amazing, with the airline offering both Japanese and Western menus, along with desserts from renowned chocolatier, Jean-Paul Hevin. Travelers can order food on board or prior to their flights.
For entertainment, a broad selection of movies and music is available, along with video games and digital Manga books. No need to book an Uber: your Virgin Atlantic Upper Class fare of $10,002 -- from New York City to London in late December -- includes a ride via chauffeur-driven car at both the start and end of your journey.
If you're flying out of Heathrow, you can check in through Virgin's Upper Class wing. Prior to departure from one of 10 Clubhouse locations, including Heathrow and Gatwick, you can hang out there until it's time to board. Swiss Airlines
Your first-class ticket -- which will run you $11,072 for a round-trip flight from Miami, Fla., to Zurich, Switzerland, in late December -- guarantees you priority boarding and a relaxing experience in the lounge. You are also welcome to bring extra hand baggage and checked luggage, and the checked luggage will receive priority handling upon arrival.
Along with access to hundreds of TV shows and movies, the flight offers 400 CDs in your private listening/viewing station. There is also special content for children, and you can keep track of your flight progress thanks to the cameras on board.
You can eat whenever you are hungry, and depending on the time of year, a variety of Swiss and international delicacies await, including a selection from the Peninsula in Hong Kong. There are also different meal options throughout the year, such as seafood in February, caviar in May and white truffles in November.
