BET Awards 2016 Projected Winners
"Hotline Bling" singer Drake has nine nominations, more than any other artist this year, including two of the five nominations for Video Of The Year and two of five nominations for Best Collaboration. Beyoncé and Rihanna both have five nominations but they'll face off in three categories, including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Video of the Year and Best Collaboration. Nicki Minaj is in the running for her seventh consecutive Best Female Hip Hop Artist Award.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of what lies ahead and GOBankingRates' projected winners in major categories.
Best Female R&B/Pop Artist -- Beyoncé Net Worth: $450 Million
In and out of the music industry, Beyoncé has the golden touch. In April, she released Ivy Park, her "athleisure" line, and it created such a frenzy that it reportedly crashed Topshop's website. Beyoncé followed up with the release of "Lemonade," a visual album aired on HBO.
"Lemonade" moved 653,000 album units within its first week, boosting it the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200. The album went platinum in early June. Meanwhile, Beyoncé's Formation tour, with 41 scheduled dates across North America and Europe, is well underway. It could earn her $50 million, according to predictions from Forbes.
In the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist category, Beyoncé is up against the likes of Adele, Andra Day, K. Michelle and Rihanna.
Best Male R&B/Pop Artist -- The Weeknd Net Worth: $20 Million
The Weeknd has been on fire over the past year. In addition to performing at MTV's Video Music Awards, The Weeknd also starred in two Apple commercials that aired during the event. Last year, he had four top 10 hits, including Ariana Grande's "Love Me Harder."
The other three hits were from his album "Beauty Behind the Madness," which dropped in August and is now double platinum. "Can't Feel My Face" topped the Billboard Hot 100, along with "The Hills."
In February, The Weeknd took home two Grammy awards for Best R&B Performance and Best Urban Contemporary Album. To win Best Male R&B/Pop Artist at the BET Awards, The Weeknd will need to beat the likes of Bryson Tiller, Chris Brown, Jeremiah and Tyrese.

Best Female Hip Hop Artist -- Nicki Minaj Net Worth: $70 Million
With only three studio albums to her name, Nicki Minaj broke the record for most Billboard 100 hits than any female rapper. Her first two albums debuted at No. 1 and "The Pinkprint" debuted at No. 2.
Last year, Nicki Minaj embarked on The Pinkprint Tour, which brought in over $13 million over 20 shows, helping her reach the top of Billboard's Hot Tours chart. "The Pinkprint" song "Feeling Myself " features Beyoncé and earned Nicki a Best Collaboration nomination for the BET Awards 2016. She is also up for Best Female Hip Hop Artist.
Best Male Hip Hop Artist -- Drake Net Worth: $75 Million
Last year, Drake dropped "If You're Reading This It's Too Late," which went straight to the top of the charts. It was the first 2015 album to go platinum that year, Forbes reported. On top of that, he released several hit singles, including "Hotline Bling," which hit No. 2 on the Hot 100, and "One Dance," which hit No. 1.
By the end of May, Drake's latest album, "Views," was No. 1 on the Billboard 200. This year, the artist is nominated for Best Male Hip Hop Artist, among other accolades.
Best New Artist -- Bryson Tiller Net Worth: $2 Million
Bryson Tiller's debut album "T R A P S O U L" released in October. The top hit off his album is "Don't," which hit No. 13 on Billboard's Hot 100. That song's music video has been watched nearly 130 million times. The song has gone platinum, along with the album.
On the Billboard Artist 100 chart, Bryson Tiller hit No. 10. At the BET Awards, the 23-year-old artist is up for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Video of the Year, Best New Artist and the Coca-Cola Viewers' Choice Award.
Best Actress -- Taraji P. Henson Net Worth: $6 Million
Taraji P. Henson of "Empire" is making her presence felt as Cookie Lyon, an ex-convict who is trying to build a music empire. Time named Cookie Lyon the most influential fictional character of 2015 and said Henson was the show's biggest draw, helping lure in 13 million viewers to the screen each week.
Henson has won numerous honors for her role, including a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV drama. To add BET's Best Actress Award to her mantle, she'll need to rise above a talented bunch of ladies, including Kerry Washington, Gabrielle Union, Tracee Ellis Rose and Viola Davis.
Best Actor -- Idris Elba Net Worth: $12 Million
Idris Elba has been stacking up acting credits across numerous genres. Indulging in fantasy, he was the voice actor for the scarred tiger Shere Khan in "The Jungle Book," which was released in April and earned $717 million within one month, reported Forbes. Elba is slated to play Krall in "Star Trek Beyond," due out this July.
Idris Elba has been nominated for Best Actor at the BET Awards. "Beasts of No Nation," a film he appeared in, is up for Best Movie.
