When the R32 was the hot new thing in town, and I was a young lad, it rustled my jimmies in a way that couldn't really be quite matched by other cars. Sure, another car might have been faster for the price, or comparable for less, or whatever. But VW did that thing that they used to be so good at - striking the perfect balance that just works.
