After extensive research, I've found why these phones are in such short supply. Turns out the true manufacturing facility for the OnePlus One is in upper Michigan at the Aperture Science, Inc's industrial complex. They share a loading dock with the factory where they produce black forest cakes.

I just got off the phone with the manager in charge of assembly. GlaDos just assured me that production is ramping up and we will surely see a plentiful supply of both 16 GB and 64 GB versions...
