This post represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join a team of staff in Keele University’s School of Computing and Mathematics. The Software/Web Developer will form part of a team of contributors on a HEFCE funded project entitled “Learner Centred Design for Learning Analytics”. The project team includes colleagues from several faculties at Keele and a wide range of professional services. It is expected that the successful candidate will be able to commence in post as soon as possible preferably April/May.

This principally technical role will require close liaison with Student Ambassadors, students, academics, learning technologists, a graphic design company and other external partners. In collaboration with the project’s Principal Investigator, the Software/Web Developer will be responsible for in identifying appropriate technologies and methods for developing a Learning Analytics Visualisation Tool and then co-designing and implementing the Tool, following a User Centred Design process.

This role would suit candidates from a range of different backgrounds including:
•Learning Technologists with a development/data analytics background
•Computer science/I.T. graduates with an interest in design and development
•Web developers/designers with an interest in User Experience
•Postdocs/researchers/academics who are interested in Learning Analytics/Data Science/User Experience.

The successful candidate will possess a degree in a relevant computing subject or have equivalent relevant experience. Experience of programming in languages such as Python, PHP, SQL, Java, JavaScript, HTML and CSS, an understanding of on-line/virtual learning environments and experience of working with users to create applications and/or websites are essential.
