Grade 10: Professorial Scale
The appointment comes with an attractive remuneration package fully commensurate with its significance to the University.
Keele University has secured £15 million of investment in a new project that will allow the University campus to become the largest single integrated electricity, gas and heat smart energy network demonstrator in Europe. The Smart Energy Network Demonstrator (SEND), is funded by Keele University, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the England 2014 to 2020 European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) Growth Programme. It will be the first facility in Europe for at-scale living laboratory research, development and demonstration of new smart energy technologies and services, in partnership with business and industry.
Keele University is looking to appoint an exceptionally ambitious and experienced individual to provide strategic and academic leadership for SEND. This newly created post will underpin the University’s strategic aim to promote environmental sustainability through international research excellence, sector-leading student experience, and our contribution to the society, economy and communities we serve. The successful candidate will establish a clear direction for the facility, with the aim of delivering a world class demonstrator for smart energy network research and development.
The role will work closely with the Keele University Research Centre for Energy and Sustainability to develop new disciplinary approaches to the commercial development and implementation of smart energy solutions.
The ideal candidate will wish to use this significant investment to further develop their established academic and/or industry profile in a relevant area of high impact research, development and commercialisation into efficient and resilient energy systems.
This post is part-funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the England 2014 to 2020 European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) Growth Programme.
