Le Pont Boulangerie at Jalan Kelang Lama live up to their name and this bridge that connects people and culture brings us together over exquisite casual dining, very much influence by French and infused with premium Japanese ingredients. For those seeking something a little bit classy, Le Point at Jalan Old Klang Road is the port to some exceptionally good and fresh quality of produces and ingredients in their dishes.

A poshed-up boulangerie-cum-restaurant serving an arsenal of delicacies for variability and the whole place is a labour of love with so much passion right from the restaurant renovations, to the house-made bread and the very serious brew of fresh coffees.

The glass-fronted façade gives passers by a peek of the galore of pastries. I didn’t get a shoot of everything on the rack but the aroma of those fresh baked pastry wafting all the way to the second floor speaks quite loudly for the quality.

From the name of the place predictably, some of the best are French and the casual dining go easy with your wallet so to start off, there is the Pumpkin Soup with Mustard Seed and Squids Salsa (RM 13.90) and Le Point Mushroom Soup (RM 9.90). Both with amazing texture, but hands down to the smooth and creamy pumpkin soup although I am much sold with the looks of their special mushroom toast.

The salads, are really a way to enjoy all the goodness of the greens or roots. Root Vegetable with Oranges Slices (RM 14.50) has got braised beetroot, fennel and arugula, dressed with apple and drizzled with their special beetroot sauce come together in a beautiful serving, and is perfect for vegans. Meat-free variety didn’t stop there, but Asparagus Salad (RM 12.80) with poached asparagus on Apple dressing and quail eggs topped with beetroot sauce didn’t impress the palate instead; the wallet agrees that we eat well without blowing our cash on this one.

Aioli with Seasonal Vegetables (RM 9.90) showcased the traditional French way to enjoy seasonal vegetables. Comes with house made pickles, and the raw is what you would be grateful because embracing it means an affirmation to their perfectly composed food.

Pronouncedly, some of the best are French and prices reasonably easy on the pocket with comfort food at its best. Spaghetti in Parmesan Sauce and Egg Confit (RM 17) and Squid Risotto (RM 18.80) both pleasantly archetypal and expect nothing fancy instead, only authentic flavour of fresh ingredients. Especially worthy of applaud is the al dente texture.

But if cheese is really your thing, opt for a bountiful block of emmental inside tender chicken and wrapped with Turkey ham. Served with a ragout of tomatoes, caramelise carrots and roasted potatoes, Chicken Cordon Blue (RM 31.90) showcased skillful craftsmanship with the parcel centerpiece.

And if you’d prefer your sea harvests, the Fish of the Day (RM 26) serves seasonal fish with shellfish stock, rice crisp, spices and vegetable ragout. The plump fillet was exciting with the portion and even more impressive with its moist and juicy texture.

Upcoming new dish on the menu presents your protein pack in Dijon Chicken (RM 33.80) and Mango Salmono (RM 33.80). Both perfectly cooked to perfection when we had them. The first with an entire chicken leg served on a bed of mashed potatoes (actual menu would be served with sweet potato) and the second with a luscious salmon fillet perfectly done and cleverly paired atop a garden of mango cubes.

And for the perfect closure to this meal, something we all look forward to; desserts. Here at the patisserie, expect desserts with class and style of quality ingredients. Croissant Ice Cream Sandwich (RM 8.90) is served with 3 scoops of ice cream (chocolate, pistachio and vanilla), whipped cream and crystallized pistachio. Expect artisanal Waffles (RM 9.90) served with ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and mixed berries marmalade to accompany.

Taking pride in their brews, Affogato (RM 12) comes plain and dull with no fancy concepts or presentation and let the quality speaks out loud for itself. Despite not liking vanilla ice cream, this affogato was polished to squeaky clean right before it melts.

With the reasonable prices for the fresh and quality ingredients, Le Pont is already a popular spot for meals for patrons within its proximate. And taking their coffee seriously, this potentially becomes a good spot for any meal of the day.
