What’s the biggest thing you’ve learnt this year?

Systems, system, systems!! Without them, my work and personal life would be a mess.

What’s the one resource you’d never be without?

My phone. I run my business from it.

Where and when do you have your best ideas?

At night, just before I sleep. It’s amazing how many great ideas you get before dropping off. Notepad and pen on the bedside table ensures nothing is missed. Then, action as many points first thing in the morning.

What would be your advice to aspiring soloists?

You have access to amazing technology, use it. If it’s not in the cloud and if you can’t run it from your phone/tablet – then don’t do it.

What’s your proudest moment?

On a personal level – easy, being present at the birth of each of my 3 kids.

On a business level – signing up my first client.

Who, or what, is your biggest inspiration?

My Dad!  He taught me humility and patience. Everything will be achieved by doing the right thing over and over again. And when you achieve – you don’t need to tell the world, they will see it.

What’s the most obscure business request you’ve ever had?

Coffins!! To store and ship coffins around Australia. I had to say no – just a bit spooky for me.

What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever been given?

The KISS principle always sticks in my head. Whether it is a process, system or technology, keeping it simple allows you to easily change, adapt or delegate. As a soloist or small business you have to be agile in order to keep current and fresh.

What’s the smartest bit of marketing you’ve ever done?

When I stopped advertising with Yellow pages hard copy and diverted the funds to google adwords, when it first started.

What do you love most about running your own business?

It’s mine, all mine!!

Outsourcing the order fulfilment to us allows our clients to focus on sourcing products, finding customers and ultimately growing sales. We take care of their products as if it were our own.
