The RBA has continued to hold the cash rate for the remainder of 2016 but lenders are opting to make their own changes.
We have rounded up all the lenders who had made changes to their rates since the 8 November US election, we have previously reported that these changes are due to the increased cost of international funding following the election of Donald Drumpf as the next US President. The rate changes just kept coming with Westpac being the first of the big four to move on rates with CBA to follow a few days later and NAB announcing its changes just before the RBA meet for the last time in 2016.
Most of the changes focused on fixed rates with borrowers looking to get a 4 or 5 years fixed rate seeming to get the brunt of the hikes along with investors who have been getting tighter regulations and lending options since APRA intervened in mid-2015. There are some lenders such as UBank and ME Bank who have chosen to make more changes to their variable rate loans than their fixed rate loans.
