Taraz Steel Company’s galvalume steel production line was inaugurated by First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri in Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Province on Tuesday.
The project was funded by 1.3 trillion rials ($37.1 million at the market exchange rate) of government credit and $19.3 of foreign investment, IRNA reported.
Taraz Steel Company has the capacity to produce 330,000 tons of galvalume steel every year.
According to Seyyed Naeem Emami, the head of Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Industries, Mining and Trade Organization, the new production line is able to fully meet domestic demand for galvalume steel.
Galvalume is a steel product with a coating that consists of 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc and 1.6% silicon over the base metal to protect it from the elements.
This coating has superior corrosion resistance that increases durability by four times over traditional galvanized metal.
It is ideally suited for roofing and siding applications, such as in unexposed automotive parts, appliances, furniture, outdoor cabinetry, computer cases, gutters and pipes.
