GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
On Saturday, August 20, the Fairfax County Police Department Search and Rescue Team (SAR) will host a large-scale training exercise on behalf of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Government, Police Chiefs, and Search Operations work group. The drill will integrate search managers and teams from several law enforcement agencies and rescue groups, to include water, air and K-9 assets. This drill will take place at South County Middle School, located at 8700 Laurel Crest Drive in Lorton from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Expect to see officers from different agencies in the areas of Lorton, Springfield, Fairfax Station, and Burke conducting practical scenarios.

ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT
On August 12, officers conducted a DWI checkpoint in the Franconia District at Fairfax County Parkway and Spring Village Drive. 456 cars were screened, with one driver charged with DWI.
SULLY DISTRICT STATION
INDECENT EXPOSURE/ARREST: New Braddock/Montero Drive, 08/13/16, 6:32 p.m. A woman was walking on a sidewalk when a man pulled up in a vehicle and called out to her. As she walked closer to the vehicle, she observed the suspect touching himself inappropriately. She used her cell-phone to video the suspect in his vehicle and notified police. Officers were able to identify Tariq Al Khatib, 24, of Centreville as the suspect. He was arrested, transported to the adult detention center, and charged with indecent exposure.
BURGLARY: 5800 block of Robey’s Meadow Lane, 08/13/16, 1:25 p.m. A man reported that someone took property from his residence. Suspect information was developed and turned over to detectives.

MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION
TRAFFIC PURSUIT/NARCOTICS/ARREST: Richmond Highway/Quander Road, 08/12/16, 5:40 p.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of marijuana. The man driving the vehicle allegedly assaulted the officer and then drove away. A short pursuit ensued and the vehicle came to a stop. The driver, Martin Warner, 44, of Triangle, Virginia and the passenger, Pamela Carter, 45, of District Heights, Maryland, were both arrested, transported to the adult detention center, and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, obstruction of justice, and assault on law enforcement.

ROBBERY: 6600 block of Chestnut Avenue, 08/13/16, 10:48 p.m. A man was walking home when he was approached by a man who demanded his phone. A struggle ensued and the suspect fled without taking any property. The victim did not require medical attention.

MASON DISTRICT STATION
DISORDERLY CONDUCT/ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT/ARREST: 5500 block of Seminary Road, 08/13/16, 10:13 a.m. An officer responded to a report of two intoxicated and disorderly women in the lobby of a business. When the officer attempted to take one of the suspects into custody, she began to assault the officer. After a struggle, the officer was able to gain compliance. Carla Rosales, 18, of Alexandria was transported to the adult detention center and charged with drunk in public, obstruction of justice, and assault on law enforcement.
ROBBERY: 7200 block of Arlington Blvd, 08/13/16, 10:50 a.m. Police responded for a report of a woman who was leaving a business, when she was approached by a man and a woman, who demanded cash and property. The victim complied and the suspects fled in a vehicle. The suspects were described as Hispanic, the woman in her 20’s and the man in his 70’s. The victim did not require medical attention.

ROBBERY: 5600 block of Vine Street, 08/13/16, 1:55 a.m. Officers responded to a report of an UBER driver who picked up four passengers, drove them to a tow lot, when one suspect took property and cash from the victim. Another suspect retrieved a vehicle from the tow lot and the four suspects fled the scene. Three suspects were described as black females and one was a black male. The victim did not require medical attention.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION
MALICIOUS WOUNDING/ARREST: 8300 block of Crestridge Road, 08/12/16, 3:42.p.m. Officers responded to a report of a shot person. A preliminary investigation revealed that two men, who were related to one another, were in a verbal argument, when it became physical. The suspect displayed a handgun and shot the victim in the lower body. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Kirk Shanahan, 57, of Fairfax, was arrested, transported to the adult detention center, and charged with malicious wounding.

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION
TRESPASSING/TRAFFIC PURSUIT/ARREST: 2500 block of James Madison Drive, 08/13/16, 11:09 p.m. Officers responded to a report of alarm hits at a local high school. Upon arrival, officers observed five men flee in a vehicle. A short pursuit ensued before the vehicle came to a stop. Ryan Pickett, 18, of Vienna was charged with speeding to elude and trespassing. Dragos Dumeniuc, 18, Diego Belaunde, 18, and two juvenile males were charged with trespassing.
ASSAULT/ESCAPE/APPREHENSION: 10600 block of Page Avenue, 08/14/16, 7:08 p.m. Officers responded to a report of an assault between three juvenile males who were in custody at the less-secure facility. One juvenile fled the building and was apprehended a short distance away and returned to the facility. Petitions for assault by mob and assault on law enforcement were obtained for two juvenile males. The victims did not require medical attention.
