Tove Jansson Akebono Children’s Forest Park

A scene from the popular Scandinavian cartoon comes to life at Tove Jansson Akebono Children’s Forest Park in Hanno City, Saitama, Japan which is about a 15-20 minute walk from Motokaji Station.

There are three main buildings in the park, including the home of Moomin, a beautiful wooden home and the children’s theater. In addition to the exterior design of each building, the interior design is unique and attracts adults and children in the suburbs of Tokyo who want to relax and unwind.

Cafe PUISTO

Starting from June 2018, this new Scandinavian-style cafe complements the surrounding theme of the park with it’s unique style.

Cafe PUISTO is located in the middle of the Akebono Children’s Forest Park near the blue hut near the river. Apart from the outdoor seating area, the interior is divided into two floors. The first floor has sofa recliners and children’s play area, and the second floor has a bar area.

The whole building of Cafe PUISTO is made of wood with unique architectural design that welcomes visitors into the world of Moomin.

The high ceiling design is complemented by paintings, lighting and wooden lounge chairs, which convey a distinct Scandinavian style.

As this store just opened, visitors can still smell the faint scent of fresh wood. Adults or children will love this place!

Cafe PUISTO mainly offers Scandanavian dishes made with local ingredients along with desserts and drinks to choose from.

The counter and each table are equipped with cups and bowls with Moomin designs and are quite cute. There are also drip coffee packages which are the same used in the shop. They make for a great gift for friends.

There are two kinds of desserts, a fruit tart and chocolate cake. The fruit tart is made of fruits that are in season which makes the ingredients fresh and the portions are just right. There is no limit to the meal time, so visitors are recommended to come relax after visiting the park.

Cafe PUISTO mainly operates in conjunction with the operating times of the park, but it may close early if the ingredients are used up for the day. To learn more about the Tove Jansson Akebono Children’s Forest Park, please refer to the previous article:The Moomin Themed Park in Saitama Japan!
