This week’s review involves pumpkins, Yoga, music class and more!

Malcolm and I went to a local arts festival, Jeremiah began his first year of homeschool highschool and had his annual physical, and Bethany attended her first Yoga and Music class of the new year, plus she even bought a pumpkin!

Malcolm and I were able to escape all alone, by ourselves to check out our local annual arts festival last Saturday. Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival has been going on every September for the past 22 years! If you enjoy music, dance, drumming, poetry slams, art contests, yummy food, and the chance to see and purchase items from local artists and craftsmen, then you’ll most likely love Colorscape!

It’s always fun to get away alone with Malcolm to enjoy just about anything without worrying about keeping Bethany safe! We were able to enjoy strolling through the booths while listening to the live music! Unfortunately for us most of the items for sale at Colorscape are out of our budget. However, many of of the artists usually have note cards featuring their work available and this year was no exception. So Malcolm was able to find some note cards from an artist he liked and bought a few!

Bethany was very excited to attend her first Yoga class and music class this week! She loves Yoga with Casey and music with Miss Pam! I didn’t go with her, so I didn’t get any photos or video footage, yet. But Kristin assured me that Bethany loved every minute of both classes!

On the way home from music class, Bethany spotted pumpkins for sale at a farm stand! According to Kristin she was very excited about them and asked to buy one!! Asking to buy anything is pretty unusual for Bethany, so it’s always a bit of a shock when she expresses such an interest in getting something! The lady running the farm stand thought Bethany was so cute that she let her have the pumpkin of her choice for just one dollar!!

We began our 32nd year of homeschooling and Jeremiah”s first year of homeschool highschool this week! I have to say that I think I’m having more trouble adjusting to it than he is! It’s hard fitting it in along with everything else I want and need to do! How did I ever homeschool a whole bunch of little kids at the same time all those years ago?

Jerry also had his yearly physical this week. Being almost 15, I didn’t feel like I needed to accompany him into the exam room. I did however, expect that the doctor would come out and let me know how the exam went! But to my great shock, Jeremiah came out alone and said he was free to go. The doctor wasn’t coming out to see me!

I thought that was weird! I wanted reassurance from her that Jerry was indeed healthy! I assumed that the doctor would at least call me. In fact, I waited the whole next day for a phone call from her, but she never called! So the following day, I called her office. What I found out was even more shocking!

The doctor assumes that when parents don’t go into the exam room with their kids ages 12-18, that the kids want their medical information kept private. So now if I want to know anything about his medical exam, I’ll need Jerry’s written permission to get access to his medical information! However, she did at least told that he had no health concerns!!

So parents of kids 12-18, you may want to actually go in the exam rooms with them!!

That’s about all the excitement we’ve had at our house this week! What mischief did you all get into this week? Let me know in the comments below!
