Not sure about the J-10 fighter. What would/should be of concern is the long range air to air, AESA equipped missiles (PL-15) that the Chinese are building. I believe that the paradigm has indeed shifted. Payloads over platforms was once a meme....once a theoretical concept. I think its been proven out.
