Had a bit of a Mandela effect going on seeing this called Jiro’s “welcome” to Habitat part: hasn’t he been on for, like, ever?
The fact that the term “forever” can even be employed when talking about Jiro or his board sponsor status is evidence-enough of time’s ceaseless march. Most people first caught onto Jiro’s skating via those ExtraCrispyNYC edits from the late 10s/early 20s, but anyone calling this his first proper part would be mistaken.
Not even one month removed from his Hockey IV part — and thus an official coronation into the ranks of skateboarding’s tech gods — Diego Todd has a new part out for Stüssy, directed under the helm of Life Is Goodie* auteur, Jesse Alba.
It should be pointed out that not celebrating the ten-year anniversary of Life Is Goodie on 4/20 this year was egregious professional negligence on our part, and the newsroom has not heard the last of it.
Diego’s part has him further expanding his technical superpowers as he enters his Shane O’Neill era. Enclosed you will find some back tail big flips, a spine-contorting ender that would send any skater ten years his senior to the chiropractor by the fifth try, and some proof that noseblunt nollie flips are actually easy — just like the south Americans said. All of this is made all the more impressive by the fact that 75% of the part looks like it was filmed in a single Puerto Rico trip alongside his Stüssonian bandmates.
Devastated we couldn’t make the premiere at Duke’s. They look like they have a dope Bloody Mary.
This is an absolutely insane 50th birthday part.
Anyone being like “why isn’t it the ride-on grind” or “why isn’t it the back lip” — those have been all over the timeline for the past week. It’s dope how the rail shakes on the smith.
Apologies for another July bye-week. It’s always ~so0o0o0o0~ embarrassing when it’s just a Monday Links and a Top 10 on the homepage for an elite, buzzing media organization such as ourselves, but the weather was beautiful this past week and the fellas had to skate ;)

Baseball bats, socks with rocks in them, Vesuvio Playground mafia kids, etc. Eli Gesner is the latest guest on Transworld’s “When The Brooklyn Banks Were Dangerous” series, re-telling the famous Banks Halloween story that sounds like a cross between The Warriors and After Hours if both movies had skateboarders starring in them. Pretty sure he told it on an old Nine Club (“This dude just explained the plots of 20 different Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies“), but this one has the added bonus of being at the actual locations. P.S. If you witnessed the fallout of a certain incident last week, you can probably make the case of the Brooklyn Banks …still being …nevermind.
The Summer of Seward continues for the second year in a row. (Ollie up the seven remains NBD, right?) Blake Carpenter, Art Cordova, Thomas Dritsas, and Daniel Teran star in a Vinyl Skateboards “Summer Trip To New York” edit by Kevin Perez.
The Fargo Skateboarding crew from Illinois also dropped a trip to New York edit. Wild that the Marcy Ledges are even popping up in trip videos now.
Boardslides continue to define our time, big flips into the crowd, and a picture-perfect switch flip front crook. Really excited for the evolutionary Banks lines that are no-doubt on the way.
