Move in Day at UM

August 17, 2018. . . .

Freshman move in day at the University of Montevallo for my brand new college student.
This day was emotionally tough on all of us.  In particular, Tanner and myself.  I was so worried to leave him, as his social anxiety was kicked into high gear.  He had to stay for orientation weekend and he did not know the first kid on campus, and was just so incredibly nervous.

I am grateful to say that it only took a few days for him to get settled in and meet some friends from the team.  Now as I type, he is on day two of Spring semester and doing so well.

His roommates name is Noah, he's a pretty nice kid too.  However, we've learned that Tanner just does not adjust well to living with others. He is very particular about his space and his sleeping schedule, and it just does not mesh with a roommate.  He is surviving though!!

I am so glad that he has adjusted, but am still missing him like crazy.  Anytime he wants to transfer to the University of Alabama here at home, I'll be the first one there to help him pack!

First Day of School-Gracyn

Per usual, I am about 6 months behind on blogging special moments here.  But I will not give up just yet. . .

Back on August 8, 2018 Gray started HIGH SCHOOL.
The afternoon before, we ran up to the school for a mini day before high school photo shoot.  That girl of mine is just so precious!

And the morning of. . .

The first semester of high school just flew by like nothing I've ever seen.  Gray is doing great in the new environment and progressing really well in all of her pre-AP classes.  She enjoyed football season as part of the Blue Crew, had a field trip with the Science Club to New Orleans, and is also a member of FBLA.   We are just getting started back to school from the Christmas holidays.  It's been an adjustment, but she is finding her rhythm again.  Me too. . .

New Orleans

This Summer Bobby and I celebrated our 23rd year of marriage.  So on the weekend of June 10th, we packed our duffel bag and headed off to New Orleans.  Just the two of us.

We arrived late Friday night.  We had reservations at B on Canal.  I had no idea what to expect, as we just picked a deal off of Hotels.com. But I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel and the room.  The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful as well.

On night one, we had dinner at the Gumbo Shop.  I had Red Beans and Rice, and Bobby had some Chicken gumbo.  We just shared and it was all wonderful!

On Saturday morning we woke up bright and early to brave the line at Cafe Beignet.  The line moved quickly and it was definitely worth it for the yummy sweet breakfast.  After the cafe, we strolled around the square.  I was looking for a couple of prints to purchase and found two that I liked.

The day was full of sight seeing and a whole lot of walking.

We also bought the day pass for the street cars and it may have been the best $6 we've ever spent.

We hopped on the St. Charles street car and went down to walk around the Garden District.

Bobby found the Coven house from American Horror Story.

We went to the art market on Frenchmen Street that night.  It is open from 7pm - 7am daily.  Local artist selling goods all night. :)

On Sunday, we woke up and had breakfast at Waffle House and went to the mall for a bit of shopping.  It was raining that day, so it was actually the perfect day to head back home.

I really enjoyed my first trip to New Orleans.  And I can hardly wait for our next trip with just the two of us.

Last Day of Middle School

Gracyn's last day of middle school went by without documentation last May. . .

We headed into Summer with fun in mind, and ready for high school.
