Dundee Ice Arena has said it will review security after claims children were injured by over-excited spectators at a wrestling match.

Some 2,000 people attended 5 Star Wrestling’s Dominant Wrestling exhibition at the ice arena on Saturday.

Show promoter Daniel Hinkles said the event went “really nicely” but some spectators have complained about an alleged lack of security and overzealous fans.

Mum Rachel Wilson said her son was “terrified” by children carrying out wrestling moves.

Rachel said: “My eight-year-old boy was badly hurt by another boy who was going about hitting other kids.”

Grandmother Jackie Masterton was similarly concerned. She said: “There was a lot of pushing about and kids doing wrestling moves on each other — there were adults doing it too.

“I reported it to ice arena staff and nothing was done.”

A spokesman for Dundee Ice Arena said 5 Star security “could have been better” but security was only a “small issue” and that overall the event had been “extremely successful”.

Mr Hinkles said: “While our shows are designed to be child friendly and we have no age restriction on tickets, we do ask that parents accompany their children at all times.

“Nobody made any complaints to me or my team on the night.”
