In order to support the implementation of the upcoming Resilient Cities Congress 2017 we are offering the following position:
Junior Officer, Events – Congress Program
The successful candidate will be a part of the international ICLEI World Secretariat team based in Bonn, Germany and will be placed within the ICLEI Capacity Center. The Capacity Center integrates a diverse set of competencies, including event management, into one comprehensive team of solution providers for ICLEI’s global and regional work with member cities and partners.
Tasks
The Junior Officer, Congress Program will support the Capacity Center’s work on planning, preparing and implementing ICLEI’s international conferences and events with a focus on program development and speaker coordination. In particular, the position will support Resilient Cities 2017, the 8th Global Forum on Urban Resilience and Adaptation to climate change to be held from 4 to 6 May 2017 in Bonn, Germany (see www.iclei.org/resilient-cities for more information about the previous editions).
Subject to satisfactory performance, the selected candidate will continue to support the program development of the ICLEI World Congress 2018 to be held in Montreal, Canada in June 2018 (see http://worldcongress2015.iclei.org/ for information on the previous edition in Seoul).
Main tasks:
The Junior Officer, Congress Program will assist particularly with the following tasks:
Program implementation
screening and selection of congress contributions
speaker invitations and communications
support database entries of partners and contributors
drafting and editing session descriptions
preparing speaker and congress materials including editing and layout of publications
design of session formats and methodologies in cooperation with speakers, event officers, and service providers
delivery of congress sessions in cooperation with congress volunteers and service providers
organization of special congress elements (e.g. workshops, trainings, site visits, posters, side events) with selected cities and/or partners
edit database entries of partners and contributors
Marketing and Publications
outreach and communications to partners and local governments
preparing communications and promotional materials including announcements, flyers, social media posts, mailings, and brochures
update and content generation for and maintenance of congress websites with a focus on program webpages
Additional tasks
reporting activities during and after the congress
post-congress follow up
general congress implementation in cooperation with program and event officers
general support to the Events Team and Capacity Center team as needed
