It shares borders with the South End, Jamacia Plain, Dorchester, Mattapan,

Roslindale. First settled by Europeans as an independent town in 1630, it was annexed to Boston in 1868. Over the years

Driving a car here is still generally not a good idea. Parking spots are more available, and it's not as competitive or congested as downtown. However, traffic can still back up quickly, and unpredictable drivers are not uncommon. Occasionally making unsignaled U-turns or deciding to double park for mysterious reasons. Often the driver is lost and desperately searching their phone to find the correct turn to make. Driving can be done, but definitely consider public transit or a ridesharing service first.
