This year WordCamp Ann Arbor will be a two-day event held at 14th and 15th of October 2016. This casual conferences are local in nature and are perfect for any level of WordPress knowledge. It will cover everything related to WordPress and include things such as blogging, coding, branding, and security. This camp will have specific tracks for those brand new to WordPress, business sessions for WordPress users and deep dives for the experienced developer.

Day 2 – The Michigan Rackham Graduate Building, 915 E. Washington St. Ann Arbor, MI 48109-1070.

Schedule:

Day 1 – 14th October 2016 – Friday

The day 1 will begin with the Registration session. Further session will be conducted in three different tracks. Here’s the timeline of the event:

Track A – Pendleton

Peter Shackelford will conduct a fundamental session on WordPress. This session will cover WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org, basics of WordPress hosting, a tour of the WordPress dashboard.

In the next session, Anthony Montalbano will give a tour of the WordPress editor and explain post types, taxonomies, comments and media.

Next to this, Seth Alling will explore different topics including – Visually customising your site and Users and settings.

Later, Angela Samuels will dive into the WordPress Themes and different WordPress Plugins. Along with this, the speaker will go through the features of these different plugins.

The last session of this track will be undertaken by Ross Johnson. The speaker will Wrap up the fundamentals series and cover different topics including Security, Backups and Updates.

Track B – Pond

Panel Sessions

Panel Member – Adam Silver, Cory Miller, Rebecca Gill and Ross Johnson will conduct open Q&A on the topics of when to hire, what to hire for, when to fire, finding good talent and getting the most out of existing human resources.

Panel Member – Ian Wilson, Kevin Skarritt, Kyle Maurer and Thomas Stirling will share their expertise and answer the questions about the topics of successfully selling services and properly planning projects so that everyone wins and costly mistakes are avoided.

Panel Member – Angela Bergman, Kyle Maurer, Michelle Schulp and Sarah Collins. This panel discussion will consist of several veteran WordPress event organisers ready to answer any and all questions the campers may have.

Panel Members – Adam Warner, Chris Christoff, Justin Ferriman and Rebecca Gill. The panel members will talk about the smart ways to building software that sells and scales.

Track C – Wolverine

Local Development Workshop – Marc Benzakein

Version Control Workshop – Joel Worsham

Unit Tests Workshop – Ben Cool

The Day 1 will end with the Friday Lunch Groups. Followed by this will be Friday Afternoon Activities.

Day 2 – 15th October 2016 – Saturday

The day 2 will begin with the Registration session. Followed by this will be an Opening Remarks session. Further session will be conducted at three different Venues. Here’s the timeline of the event:

Venue A – Amphitheatre

Rebecca Gill will look at SEO best practices and how to apply these to WordPress website and blog.

In the next session, Alex Beaudin will discuss a user-oriented design approach from the perspective of a social scientist, rather than a designer or developer.

Post lunch break from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, Topher DeRosia will talk about the WordPress REST API.

In the next session, Adam Silver and Kyle Maurer will take the campers into the depths of this conflict where they will witness first hand the tactics and strategies employed by both sides to gain the upper hand.

Next to this, Kevin Skarritt and Steve Bennett will share the smart tips and tricks to explode the WordPress business!

Venue B – Assembly Hall

Karim Marucchi will focus on techniques large-scale agencies use to give a white-glove client experience while controlling scope creep.

In the next session, AJ Morris will teach the proven techniques to discover which tools campers can use to help accelerate their blog to create the audience they want for the products they sell.

Next to this, Russell Aaron will talk about the different WordPress Themes that take the campers business to the next level.

Post Lunch Break, Thomas Stirling will share different tips and tricks to create the perfect client experience.

The last session of this venue will be undertaken by Steve Grunwell. The speaker will conduct a case-study on taking a web application offline, synchronising JSON data and assets while maintaining a consistent user experience.

Venue C – West Conference Room

Becky Davis will walk through how a site can be setup so that it can grow and maintain it’s consistent structure.

In the next session, Nicole Arnold will cover a variety of WordPress core functions that you may not know exist.

Next to this, Annie Wolock will show that tech trends may come and go, but savvy business practices significantly advance your business outcomes.

Justin Ferriman will reveal the fool-proof way to get your premium theme & plugin issues resolved in a timely manner.

The last session of this camp will be undertaken by Andrea Rennick. The speaker will teach the ins and outs of giving the best support possible for your clients and customers, for both free & paid products or services.

The Camp will end with the Closing Remarks session. Followed by this will be an After Party session held at Heidelberg Restaurant, 215 North Main Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.

WordCamp Ann Arbor 2016 will be an absolutely exciting and knowledge enriched event. With wonderful presentations, workshops and discussions, there are a variety of channels through which you can grasp information about WordPress.
