Frontend United is a camp organized by the Drupal community. One such event is going to take place in Bristol, UK and would last for three days. The symposium will begin at 5th of June and will continue till 7th. The camp comprises of talks from some of the frontend experts from the industry.

Bristol is a great place to visit so along with attending the camp you can visit several tourist spots too. From Clifton suspension bridge to controversial graffiti, there are plenty of things to explore. The city is well-connected and compact at the same time, so you can visit  several places in a short duration.

Venue:

Hamilton House located at 80 Stokes Croft is the place where this camp will be held. You can easily reach the place through train and bus.

Session Schedule:

This three-day long symposium will contain sessions, training, workshops and some great after-party events.

Here is a timeline of the events that will take place:

Friday, 5th June:

On the first day of this Drupal Camp, there will be some lightning talks, sprints and networking events which will begin at 3pm and continue till 7 in the evening. These sessions will take place at Hamilton House.

Saturday, 6th June:

The registrations will begin at 9:30 am and will be open for 30minutes.

The first session of this camp will be conducted by Afra Noubarzadeh and will begin at 10am. He will be giving a live presentation on how to carry CSS3 styling. It is a great session for people who wish to make their career in the designing field.

The next presentation will be on the topic of refactoring and will be hosted by Adam Onishi. He will be covering some of the bright sides of refactoring by citing examples from one of the recent works done from a large project refactor he’s been working on. He will be sharing some rules and tools that make this task easy.

Next to this will be a 20 minutes tea break where campers can relax for a while and know each other.

After the tea break, Chris Ruppel will be speaking on automated front-end testing. He will explain some of the major reasons to carry out this testing. He will also be sharing some examples to show the testing procedure.

Followed by this will be lunch break so campers can explore the local eateries and enjoy some delicious food. It will be a forty-minutes break.

The post-lunch session will be conducted by Lisa Rex where she will be explaining the importance of conducting user research. Here the focus will not be on tools and techniques but on some of the tried and tested practical ways to do it.

The next session will let campers know about the topic of head transplanting with Drupal. The speaker Rupert Jabelman will work with the audience to setup a Silex App with Twig, using data from Drupal 7.

Followed by this will be a 15-minute tea break.

Edward O’Riordan will share his experience of working with both data and design and how both of them are different from each other. He will explain that how design a non-rational craft can be induced with a ration and objective element like data.

The last session for this day will be conducted by MortenDK. He will be sharing his views on the topic that enhancement in the theming system remains one of the most striking features of the Drupal8.

An after party will begin at The Rummer at 6:45 onwards. It will be a great opportunity for campers to know each other and develop their networks.

Apart from the sessions mentioned above there will be a number of BOF’s too.

Sunday, 7th June:

The last day of the camp will be a contribution event as sprints will be conducted all day. The sessions are supposed to begin at 10am and may continue up to 3pm.
