The International 6 picked up the top prize for “Esports Live Event of the Year” at last night’s first annual Esports Industry Awards ceremony, in London. Amer “Miracle-” al-Barqawi was given the nod as “Esports Rookie of the Year”, while Valve Corporation was honored in two categories: “Esports Publisher of the Year” and “Esports Game of the Year” (CS:GO).
Aimed at recognizing international esports businesses, performances, teams, media, providers, games, events, and personalities, the event was attended by over 600 industry leaders. The ceremony was hosted by games industry commentator and presenter Julia Hardy and Jason Bradbury of the “Gadget Show”.
The 18 categories and nomination criteria were released back in March.
