This winter in Japan was warmer than usual… until last week. We had a record cold snap throughout Japan recently and many people feel winter has finally started. Especially they had snow in Kyushu this time, where is located in southern Japan and they almost never had snow before. Many people got thrilled to see snow and posted photos on Twitter.

Kumamoto Castle is a hilltop Japanese castle located in Kumamoto Prefecture and thirteen structures in the castle complex are designated Important Cultural Property. It is one of the most impressive castles in Japan and it looks amazing with snow.

The bridge, called Spectacles Bridge because of the shape of glasses, is one of the most famous tourist spot in Nagasaki. The snow-covered bridge is very spectacular.

Dazaifu Tenmangu is a shrine built over the grave of Michizane Sugawara venerated by the Japanese throughout the country as the Tenman-Tenjin(the deified spirit of Michizane), or the God of literature or calligraphy. Many students taking entrance exams for schools and colleges go and pray there for the success.
