For nearly 35 years The Mobility Roadshow organised by the charity Mobility Choice, has been helping to meet assisted driving and mobility needs. From 1st – 3rd June at NAEC Stoneleigh this unique and popular event, the largest of its kind in Europe, will be showcasing the latest products and services that help people of all ages regain and maintain independence.
The Mobility Roadshow is a unique event with a unique atmosphere – it is the original hands-on event for consumers looking to maintain or discover independence when living with restricted mobility. The exhibition provides a free, fully accessible opportunity for disabled drivers to test drive the latest adapted vehicles and specialist conversions accompanied by experienced professional drivers. In specialist dual-controlled cars, visitors can try an impressive range of wheelchair accessible and adapted vehicles available through Motability or private ownership. The NAEC provides a series of onsite private roads so drivers can test drive in a controlled and safe environment for peace of mind. Choosing the right accessible vehicle is a big decision so by coming to The Mobility Roadshow, visitors can be sure they are selecting the ideal model for their needs in a no-pressure environment.
Wheelchair passengers will be able to test, trial and compare the many vehicles on display including models with side- or rear-access, upfront passenger capability and flexible designs for families. The unmissable Mobility Roadshow provides the largest range of adapted driving controls. No other event brings together such an impressive showcase of push/pull hand controls, floor mounted controls, left foot accelerators, lightened power steering, ring accelerators, specialist electric triggers, 4-way joystick steering, electric mini wheel steering, remote secondary controls and more. There will also be solutions for older drivers looking for more comfortable driving such as swivel seats and easy-release handbrakes and guidance available for younger disabled drivers. Get Going Live! is co-hosted by the charities Mobility Choice and DMUK, with invaluable support from Driving Mobility. It provides a unique focus on younger people with disabilities, novice drivers and those who have recently become disabled, plus showcases a wide variety of alternative hand controls for drivers of all ages and abilities. This test-drive feature has helped high numbers of people try adapted driving for the first time and explore options for accessible motoring. Visitors and their families, including teenagers from the age of 15, are able to test drive, for free, a range of adapted cars in a safe environment accompanied by qualified and expert drivers. As young people with a disability can gain their driving licence a year early at age 16, Get Going Live! can help prepare visitors for choosing their first adapted vehicle. The event also supplies invaluable advice on options for driving tuition.
In addition to the exciting test drive experiences available The Mobility Roadshow offers displays from many specialist vehicle conversion companies, mobility product manufacturers and service providers that assist with an independent lifestyle. From hi-tech walking aids to off-road wheelchairs, cutting edge mobility scooters to clever assistive gadgets, the latest technology and innovations will be on show. There will be essential advice and information available from relevant organisations and charities.
