Support Castle Douglas High School in the Young Enterprise Scotland 2016 People’s Choice Award
Castle Douglas High School’s award-winning Young Enterprise company High Tea will be flying the flag for Dumfries & Galloway in the Scottish finals in Glasgow on Wednesday, June 15 – and you can show your support by voting for them in the People’s Choice Award.

This is the second year that Castle Douglas High School has reached the Scottish finals of the Young Enterprise competition and there are high-hopes for High Tea, who made a big impression at the Dumfries & Galloway Area Board finals in March with their Mad Hatter-themed outfits and display stand, reflecting their brand and successful marketing campaign imagery taken especially by Castle Douglas-based photographer Kim Ayres.
High Tea makes vintage cake stands and cup and saucer bird feeders from recycled and upcycled old crockery.
MD Nadia Baines, who leads the 21-strong company, and who won the award for Best Managing Director in the D&G area finals, says: “From the outset our overall goal was to create a high quality range of products which tap into the trend of vintage, and the importance of recycling. With shows like the Great British Bake Off, the craze for all things vintage and the current trend for upcycling we were hopeful of success.”
High Tea, which was also inspired by the 2016 Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design 2016, won area awards for Best Display, Business Advisor and Overall D&G Company of the Year, and secured a major contract to supply Neuro’s and Easterbook Hall in Dumfries with bespoke cake stands for afternoon tea.
All the money made by High Tea will go to support its chosen charities: Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes and Cash for Kids.
