Students have shown off their creative talent at a special event in Derry.
The students took part in North West Regional College’s (NWRC) annual Hair and Beauty Academy showcase.
Hosted in the College’s Foyle Theatre, Derry, with the theme of Gothic Couture, the show saw students from Hairdressing, Barbering and Beauty come together in a fantastic catwalk show culminating with an end of event awards presentation.
Numerous areas of the College curriculum were involved in the show with Joinery students from Springtown Campus constructing a life-size jewellery box onstage.
Meanwhile, students from the Performing Arts department provided the evening’s showcase entertainment consisting of music and dance.
Media, Multi-Media and Interactive Media students from Level 3 and HND classes also assisted with the event covering everything from photography and graphic design to video production, editing, advertising and trailers.
NWRC Lecturer in Hairdressing Liz January congratulated all the students who took part in the showcase.
“We had a fantastic evening showcasing many designs from Gothic Couture.
“The showcase was the culmination of months of design and practical work by students. Well done to all of our winners and to everyone who took part.
“Our thanks go to the judges for the evening who were: Gloria Dickson curriculum manager South West College, Charles McEleney, Director of Capelli Hairsalon, Foyle Street, and Raymond Doherty leading Donegal Hairdresser and former employee of NWRC.”
