The US Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice have released their 36th annual Hart-Scott-Rodino Annual Report (FY13), according to a press release offered by the agencies.

In breaking down the numbers, the regulators announced 1,326 transactions were filed, a 7.2 percent decrease from the year prior.

Despite the decrease, the press release highlighted 38 merger actions taken by the regulators to preserve competition within various industries including pharmaceuticals, consumer goods and energy, among others. The FTC and DOJ also sanctioned a combined $1.2 million from companies for failing to comply with the HSR Act.

Further, the report also outlines the agencies’ merger investigations for the year.
