We recently had a BT engineer out to help with our phone and broadband service which, since the bad weather, had become very intermittent. Sometimes we could use either for short periods, but mostly the phone line was noisy and would break up and our internet was useless.

Since the visit we've got broadband working again - but our dial tone has gone from noisy and intermittent to deathly silent! It's a Panasonic cordless phone and from searches on the net is seems this problem is not unknown. I've tried disconnecting everything, removing batteries, switching filters - the lot. This has convinced me the fault lies within the phone; the only reason I can't confirm for certain is that we don't have a corded phone to test the line. Surely though, as our broadband is fine, this indicates the line is alright? We get the normal ringing sound when calling in, but no corresponding sound or even hint of recognition from the phone.

So, any tips at how to reset a Panasonic cordless phone so it starts to work properly again?
