Here’s a glimpse of some of the activities happening at the Hub next week:

Thurs May 31st from 3:00 – 5:00 pm – Velocity Garage Open House

VeloCity is excited to invite everyone to its first official Open House, on Thursday May 31st from 3:00-6:00 pm, in the Garage Space located at the Tannery in downtown Kitchener, 151 Charles Street West. The event promises to be an opportunity for startup teams, investors, and notable evangelists of the startup community to network, and exchange ideas. You can expect our teams ready to demo what they have been producing and engage you in their future projections.

The VeloCity Garage program is designed to help teams kick start their business ideas by providing office space, mentorship, and a community that cultivates entrepreneurship. We hope to see you there!  Follow VeloCity on Twitter @uwvelocity for a chance to win a pair of Dre Beats headphones through our social media contest.

New and Noteworthy:

Tues June 5th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm – eHealth Sector Collision Day

Taking place at the Communitech Hub, (151 Charles St W, Suite 100) this event is open to both new and previously attending participants.  At this meeting we will continue the discussion around Personal Health Records to close the loop on previous discussions and we’ll also be discussing the Tricorder X Prize Competition.  Alex Leyn from Coreal will be leading a discussion around this group opportunity.  Here are some preliminary details of that discussion:

“To invigorate the mission to revolutionize healthcare and empower patients, the X Prize Foundation just launched the health Tricorder X Prize competition (http://www.qualcommtricorderxprize.org/). An aggressive, motivated, and highly multi-disciplinary team is actively being formed to enter this grand challenge competition and we need your participation and help.  $10M in prizes, massive bragging rights, a platform to launch multiple start-ups, and the future of global healthcare is on the line.”

Any interested parties can register here.  Spaces are limited for this event.
