I’ve never been to a Passion conference, but I’ve always heard really good things about them. Have you ever made it to one? What was it like? I ask because I’ll probably never make it to one of their conferences, but feel too bad for me. You see, for the past month, I’ve had an advance copy of Worthy of Your Name, Passion’s newest album that was recorded at the 2017 conference.

Now, I’ll be honest in saying that I’m no expert in the arena of praise and worship music, but some of my favorite worship songs of the past few years (“How Great Is Our God,” “One Thing Remains,” and especially “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)”) have come from Passion. And this album is sure to add a few more songs to my list.

Worthy of Your Name

Favorite Tracks

“Glorious Day” (feat. Kristian Stanfill)

“Build My Life” (feat. Brett Younker)

“Rule” (feat. Hillsong UNITED and Crowder)

“Your Cross Changes Everything” (feat. Matt Redman)

This album had some really good energy, and it had what I appreciate about live albums–the feeling of being there–without what I can’t stand about live albums–mediocre performances. (There’s a delicate balance between the crowd singing with a band and singing for the band, and this album found it.)

Reviewing worship albums is challenging because I need to critique the musics and lyrics, but with albums as good as this, not only is it hard to find a weak spot or a let down, it’s also hard to separate the music from the worship experienced while listening. Given that, this is a great album, prompting focus, worship, and heartfelt praise. Like I said at the top, if you couldn’t make it Passion 2017, you can now.

You can find Worthy of Your Name in iTunes today and in retail stores on March 24.

A copy of this album was provided to me by the record company in exchange for an honest review, which is what you’ve just finished reading.
