What to See at Kensington Palace?
Kensington Palace has been the home of the British Royal Family since the late 17th century. Over the years it has been the home of Queen Victoria & Prince Albert, Princess Diana, and currently Prince William & Princess Kate.
The Palace houses a number of exciting exhibits showcasing the rich history of the Royal Family. Currently, you will be able to see a selection of Princess Diana's spectacular dresses at the Diana: Her Fashion Story exhibit.
Diana: Her Fashion Story traces the evolution of Princess Diana's style, from her first public appearances to the glamorous gowns she was known for by the end of her life. See some of the original sketches by the designers that she worked closely with, and learn how the Princess used her image to champion important causes.
You will also have the opportunity to tour the Royal State Apartments and the beautiful gardens. The vast gardens are the perfect spot for a picnic with the family.
The gardens contain three sections: The Sunken Garden, the Cradle Walk and the Formal Gardens:
The Sunken Garden was planted in 1908 and is a quiet ornamental garden inspired by classical design.
The Cradle Walk is a covered walk surrounding The Sunken Garden. This tunnel of plants provides shade in the summer months and a view into the Sunken Garden and the Formal Gardens.
The Formal Gardens contain formal flower beds and box hedges in the Dutch style.
